Advanced Treatment to Reduce Risk of Blood Clots Offered in Dallas
The Dallas Valve Institute at Medical City Dallas Hospital is proud to offer our patients a new and revolutionary treatment for nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AFIB). Until now, these patients' only treatment option was blood thinners and anticoagulants like warfarin. This therapy was long-term and often came with undesirable side effects.
The new treatment is called the Watchman™ device, and it reduces the risk of stroke and blood clots for people with nonvalvular AFIB by closing off the area of the heart where blood clots can form and enter the bloodstream. It is literally as simple as that.
The Watchman device is implanted in the catheterization lab, and the whole procedure takes about an hour.
It's just one more way the Dallas Valve Institute at Medical City delivers world-class care for our patients and their hearts.
The doctors on our medical staff are backed by some of the latest technology and treatments that mitigate the effects of AFIB. All to ensure our patients' best chance of a healthy life.
