Transplant Success Stories at Medical City Dallas Hospital
For almost 25 years, Medical City Transplant has been making miracles happen. What began in 1991 as a heart transplant program has evolved into a regional center for heart, renal and pancreas. Along the way we continued to lead the way for minimally invasive heart surgeries, giving previously inoperable patients a second chance at life. Here are just a few of our transplant patients' inspiring stories.
Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Transplant
Fred, Terry and Phil all share a bond: the three men are LVAD patients. They formed a friendship that stemmed from each man receiving a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) at Medical City Dallas Hospital.
Paired Kidney Donation
Pediatric Kidney Transplant
A nosebleed was the first step in saving three lives in one family. Crystal's parents were both diagnosed with kidney cancer, but they never would have known had they not been screened to be her donors.
ABO Incompatible Kidney Transplant
The first North Texas ABO Incompatible Transplant surgery, performed by the transplant specialists at Medical City Dallas Hospital, allowed Mark's wife, Lisa, to give him the gift of life by donating her kidney to him - even though they have different blood types.
