Medical City Dallas is partnering with Hunt Regional Healthcare to bring new interventional cardiology services to Greenville and surrounding communities northeast of Dallas. Ahad Hassan, MD, and Roger Belbel, MD, interventional cardiologists at Medical City Dallas, will be leading the cardiac catheterization lab operations, with the support of registered nurses and diagnostic imaging technicians.
“Medical City Dallas is proud to partner with Hunt Regional to bring lifesaving interventional cardiology services to this community,” says Chris Mowan, CEO of Medical City Dallas. “Our physicians will help provide rapid, on-site diagnosis and treatment which can reduce heart damage and save lives."
Previously, patients experiencing a cardiac emergency would have to be transferred to Medical City Dallas for heart and vascular consultation, procedures and stents. The partnership will enable Hunt Regional to provide patients with leading edge technology and comprehensive cardiac care 24/7, 365 days a year.
Cardiac catheterization labs—or Cath labs— allow doctors to place stents in a patient’s cardiovascular system to open blocked passageways and perform other related life-saving procedures. With the help of digital imaging, cardiologists can diagnose problems with blood flow, pressure, and valve function.
Opening of the cardiac catheterization lab was celebrated with a ceremonial ribbon cutting Thursday, June 15.
