eLearning Parent Education

Congratulations on your decision to deliver at Medical City Dallas Hospital! We are confident you will have a great experience and enjoy your time spent in Women's Services.

We want to support you in your decision to become prepared and educated for your childbirth experience. Through education you will gain important knowledge about what to expect and how to prepare for your big day. Our parent education classes are offered to not only the expectant parents but also to grandparents and siblings as well. This is an exciting time for you AND your entire family.

At Medical City, we know you are busy and we want to make parent education fit into your schedules. We are pleased to offer eLearning and eLearning Forums for those of you who are unable to make it here during the times we offer our traditional classroom learning and as a refresher class for those of you who have delivered before but would like to review the content before your big day again. eLearning is a self-paced learning module that you can enjoy on your own schedule in the comfort of your home.

How do I get started with eLearning?

First you will need to register for the eLearning class. Click here to register. A separate window will open. Use the drop down menus to select eLearning. Once you complete your registration, please call our Parent Education Department at 972-566-7153. We will accept your $100 payment for the eLearning Class and assign your eLearning code. This code will remain active for 2 months after your due date. As you are working through the eLearning content, we recommend you keep a note pad handy. Write down questions you may have and bring these to the eLearning Forums.

What are eLearning Forums?

As you are moving through eLearning, you may have questions you want to discuss with a parent education professional. We also have some valuable information that we can only share in a classroom setting. For our eLearners, we have monthly eLearning Forums. At these forums, you will enjoy a tour of maternity services at Medical City, including Labor and Delivery, Newborn Nursery and Postpartum. You will also receive your course book and the CPR anytime infant kit. During the eLearning Forums a Registered Nurse will be available to answer any questions you may have as you are working through your class content at home. You may attend the eLearning Forums once or multiple times.

How do I register for eLearning Forums?

Registration is required to attend the eLearning Forums. Click here to register, select eLearning Forum from the drop down box.  After completing your registration you will receive a confirmation  letter in the mail for each class you register for. This letter will also include a map to assist you in finding your classroom. You may also call 1-800-554-2844 to register by phone. There is no fee associated with the eLearning Forums; they are part of your eLearning experience.

What other classes should I take?

It can be overwhelming as you begin to register for parent education classes; which class to take, what information is covered, when to take the class and many more questions you may have. Let us help you with a sample schedule. As a paid eLearner, you may register for other parent education classes we offer at no additional cost.
