Patient Support Resources
Breast Care Navigator
Medical City’s Breast Care Navigator is an experienced Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist who provides continuity of care and coordinates the services of our breast program. With a comprehensive understanding of all disciplines involved in breast care, she guides patients through diagnosis and treatment, making sure they understand all components of their care, and receive the education and support they need. Her role includes providing patient and family education and support at diagnosis, connecting patients with appropriate care and support personnel, and facilitating access to Medical City and community resources.
Cancer Resource Center and Community Partners
The Breast Center at Medical City knows the importance of being part of the DFW community, and collaborates with many organizations to integrate community services. These partnerships make sure you always have an expanded network of resources. The Medical City Cancer Resource Center in the lobby of Building A collaborates with the American Cancer Society to provide a therapeutic environment where patients can obtain accurate, current information about their specific type of cancer and become active partners in their healthcare. Access to up-to-date information can play a significant role in helping patients and their family members cope effectively with the complexities of cancer. The Cancer Resource Center is a central location manned by a registered nurse and trained volunteers to help patients experience individualized, personalized support throughout cancer treatment from diagnosis to survivorship.
The (WIN) Support Group has been offering ongoing support for women with breast cancer here at Medical City for more than 15 years. WIN meets on the second Thursday of each month from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the Cancer Resource Center, and offers educational programs each month as well as an excellent chance to network and enjoy dinner with other women on the same journey.
