Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death and disability in America.  Many of the new diagnostic and treatment procedures for the cardiovascular diseases were evaluated at Medical City and Medical City Children’s Hospital as part of multi-clinic research trials.

Research programs and dedicated participating physicians are helping the community gain immediate access to leading-edge technology that may someday save their lives. From robotic-assisted enhancements and laser technology, to advanced cardiac medicines and minimally invasive cardiac surgical techniques, cardiovascular research at Medical City is making a difference in the lives of these patients. We were one of the most active research sites in evaluating a new approach to replacing the aortic valve without the need to open the chest or to place the patient on a bypass machine. Another study is assessing the safety and efficacy of using stem cells to generate new heart tissue in patients requiring a ventricular assist device.
