Medical City is dedicated to empowering the community with the knowledge and means to manage daily choices involving their health through healthy lifestyle changes. That’s why Medical City Heart partnered with area restaurants and the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association to promote heart-healthy eating in the community. We also work together to educate the community on the importance of healthy eating through culinary schools.

Our dietitians review restaurant recipes to evaluate for heart-healthy designation based on the following American Heart Association guidelines:
- Total fat
- Saturated fat
- Dietary fiber
Bad eating habits can lead to the following risk factors for heart disease:
- Abnormal blood cholesterol
- High glucose (blood sugar)
- High blood pressure
We compile nutritional facts for each recipe using Nutribase software. No lab analysis is used. The goal is to endorse and promote restaurants that offer heart-healthy menu selections for our patients. The specialists at Medical City Heart have also created a list of heart-healthy tips to help you enjoy dining out without guilt. The Food Pyramid is also a great resource for choosing foods and portions that are healthy for you.
The Texas Council on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke awarded the Restaurant Partner Program in 2009 and 2010 with the Texas Cardiovascular Health Promotion Award - Honorable Mention.
